BEC welcomes Cox's spending cut promise
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 3: The Bermuda Employers’ Council (BEC) says it is encouraged by new Premier Paula Cox’s promise to cut public spending and has described her reorganisation of government ministries as “far reaching”.
BEC executive director Martin Law welcomed Ms Cox’s promotion and said he looked forward to “early and regular dialogue” with new Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Kim Wilson and the Business Development and Tourism Minister Patrice Minors.
Key topics for the business community were the economy, labour, international business, training, tourism and work permits, he said.
“We look forward to early and regular dialogue with the Minister and her key advisers to help them appreciate and understand the real concerns and challenges that the employer community is facing,” Mr. Law said in today’s statement.
“All the social partners — employers, government, workers and individuals — need to work together to see us through our current challenges. The opportunity to do this presents itself with these leadership and ministerial changes and the BEC remains willing and eager to play its part.”
