Bermuda joins in World Aids Day observances

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 1: Government today recognised World Aids Day with a promise to keep fighting the disease.
There are currently 300 people with HIV on the Island.
Health Minister Zane DeSilva today read a proclamation marking World Aids Day from the steps of City Hall.
He said: “As the slogan for World Aids?Day continues to be ‘Stop Aids, Keep the Promise’ I do hereby renew this Government’s commitment to keeping the promise and I?urge everyone to continue to make every effort to stop the spread of HIV/Aids in our community.”
Government subsidises HIV medication at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital as well as education on the disease, Mr DeSilva added.
