Bermuda maps now online, says Ministry
Maps of the Island can now be viewed via the Internet said a spokesman from the Ministry of Works and Engineering (MWE), yesterday.
The Ministry's deputy senior land surveyor Mark Griffin said the Bermuda Address Finder brings up-to-date mapping into the homes of the public and makes it possible to search and view addresses using an interactive map interface.
"It is a very comprehensive mapping system, which includes names and numberings of buildings," said Mr. Griffin.
"The naming of roads and numbering of buildings was an initiative primarily for the interest of public safety, specifically to help minimise the response time of emergency vehicles."
The mapping system is extensively used within Government, the Bermuda Address Finder has been designed so that it may be imbedded in applications being developed for the Parliamentary Registry and Land Valuation.
The new site can be found at www.addresses.gov.bm.
