A Public Transportation Board worker appeared in Supreme Court yesterday to face five charges of serious sexual assault involving a minor.
The 27-year-old Pembroke man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded not guilty to all of the offences which allegedly took place on April 25, 2002.
Puisne Judge Ian Kawaley set a trial date for November 29. Crown Counsel Graveney Bannister represents the Crown. Lawyer Craig Attridge represents the accused man.
Warwick man's trial date set
A Warwick man accused of robbing a man of his money had his trial date set in Supreme Court yesterday.
John Glasgow, of Spring Hill, is accused of robbing Allan Eugene Robinson of money and using violence on February 23, 2003.
Glasgow has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Puisne Judge Ian Kawaley set a trial date for November 29.
Islamic scholar misses Bermuda appointment
A well-known Islamic scholar due to give a talk at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess on Friday night was unable to attend because his son ran into difficulties at the Atlanta airport.
Imam W. Deen Mohammed, the son of Nation of Islam founder Elijah Muhammad, was going to speak at the free public event about “Celebrating our Commonalities in Society and working to solve our differences”.
Mr. Mohammed sent his apologies and someone else spoke.
Cromwell Shakir, spokesman for the Masjid Muhammed in Bermuda and who helped organise the event, confirmed that Mr. Mohammed did not show because of problems with his son's travelling arrangements.
Witnesses sought in fatal road crash
Police are continuing to appeal for any witnesses or anyone with information about the fatal road traffic collision that occurred around 1.30 a.m. on November 17.
The incident occurred on St.John's Road in Pembroke, adjacent to Western Stars Sports Club, and resulted in the death of 22-year-old Dion Woodley.
Police are particularly interested in talking with two motorcyclists who were travelling with the victim at the time of the collision.

Police report 24 road traffic collisions
Eight incidents of breaking and entering were reported at the weekend at locations across the Island.
There were 24 road traffic collisions which resulted in only damage to vehicles while two collisions led to injury.
Cash, radio stolen from Market Place
Heron Bay Market Place in Southampton was broken into sometime at the weekend with approximately $200 in cash and a Sony radio being stolen.
Woman pleads guilty to stealing $70,771.52
A St. George's woman pleaded guilty in Supreme Court yesterday to stealing $70,771.52 from M.E.F. Enterprises.
Vanessa Judy Tucker, 37, of Cut Road, appeared in front of Puisne Judge Ian Kawaley to face the charge. She was employed as a clerk with the company between May 30, 2000 and October 9, 2001.
Tucker will appear for mention in the Supreme Court on January 4. Her bail was extended with one surety.
Somerset office makeover approved by DAB
A Somerset office has received permission to convert its existing offices into a tourist accommodation.
Marstea Trust, care of Christine Hoskins, has received approval from the Development Applications Board to convert the offices at 7 Mangrove Bay, Sandys, into a guest accommodation for five guests.
A four-car parking space shown on the submitted site plan have not be considered as part of the application.
The applicant filed for planning permission in June.
