Americans told to be on their guard
Americans in Bermuda have been urged to be extra vigilant in light of the war in Iraq.
The US Department of State has issued the warning and said it was more important than ever to maintain a high level of vigilance and to take appropriate steps to increase security awareness.
The statement said the US Government remained deeply concerned about the security of Americans overseas, and said that the military action in the Middle-East could lead to retaliatory actions against Americans around the world.
The official warning said: "Terrorists do not distinguish between official and civilian targets. These may include facilities where Americans and other foreigners congregate or visit, such as residential areas, clubs, restaurants, places of worship, schools, hotels, outdoor recreation events or resorts or beaches.
"US citizens should increase their security awareness at such locations, avoid them or switch to other locations where Americans in large numbers generally do not congregate."

Lighthouse visitors warned about disruption
A warning has been issued to members of the public visiting Gibbs Hill Lighthouse over the next two weeks.
The Department of Marine and Ports said work was in progress to replace the coastal surveillance radar on top of the lighthouse in Southampton, and is likely to continue for the next two weeks.
Visitors to the Lighthouse Gift Shop and Lighthouse Tea Room are asked, where possible, to use the lower parking area on the Eastern side of the lighthouse because the work will involve the positioning of a crane in the upper parking area.
The Department of Marine and Ports apologised to visitors and members of the public for any inconvenience.
