The eight-year-old Southampton boy, who was run over by a car on Tuesday evening, is currently in stable condition at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital on Gosling ward.

Police said that the boy was chasing his ball onto Horseshoe Road and ran in front of an oncoming car.

The accident happened shortly after 7.17 p.m. on Tuesday.

His mother said on Wednesday night that the family is thankful that his injuries were not life threatening.

She said that he has a ?fractured eye? and they were waiting on test results which will determine the seriousness of the injury.

The boy had just come out of recovery. ?Otherwise it was just road rash,? his mother said.

?It was an unfortunate incident. It was not the driver?s fault.?

?We are just thankful that his injuries were not life threatening. We have no hard feelings to the person who did it. It was just an accident.?
