BREAKING NEWS: Bermuda lose to USA
USA 254-7; Bermuda 173-9
Bermuda's Thanksgiving experience was anything but pleasant at the ICC Americas Division One Championship in Florida today as the Islanders slumped to an 81-run loss against tournament hosts USA.
Batting first, the Americans recovered from a precarious 117 for five in the 31st over to post what proved to be a match-winning 254 for seven in their allotted overs.
A six-wicket stand of 113 between top-scorer Rashard Marshall (71) and Aditya Thyagarajan (42) virtually batted the Americans to safety as Bermuda could only reply with a modest 173 for nine in their allotted overs.
For the second day in succession Lionel Cann led the Bermuda batting with a polished 78 off 94 balls. The St.David's Islanders smashed eight boundaries and courageously returned to the crease after hobbling off with a muscle strain in the 24th over.
Stephen Outerbridge chipped in with a solid 41 off 79 balls while David Hemp (12) and Delyone Borden (17 not out) were the only other Bermuda bats in double figures.
Justin Pitcher, one of five St.David's Islanders in Bermuda's squad, seized three for 45 while off-spinner Rodney Trott had two for 50 respectively.
