Breaking News: Cougars mourning loss of footballer

Devonshire Cougars are mourning the death of footballer, Jeremy DeShields, who died earlier this afternoon from a suspected heart attack.

Details of the late footballer’s passing remain sketchy but it is understood he died at his workplace after complaining of chest pains, sources told The Royal Gazette.

Attempts to revive Mr. DeShields were unsuccessful.

Grief stricken teammates, family and friends have now gathered at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and at Devonshire Recreation Club where the 29-year-old footballer and father of two helped Cougars land a maiden Premier Division championship during the 2004-05 season.

Craig Clarke, president of Devonshire Recreation Club, offered his deepest condolences to DeShields’ family.

He said: “On behalf of Devonshire Recreation Club we send out our condolences to his family during this difficult time. Jeremy’s passing has taken the Devonshire Recreation Club family by shock and we are grieving right now.

“He was a very integral part of our club and we will sincerely miss him.”
