Firefighters were called to tackle a blaze at a church community building in Southampton this evening.

The fire, which started in the porch area of the Bermuda Institute school site, caused extensive smoke damage.

Eight firefighters attended the scene after the call came in at 6.19 p.m., and the flames have now been extinguished. Lt. Wenda Roberts of the Bermuda Fire Service said an investigation is underway.
