Breaking News: Horseshoe Bay reopens to swimmers

Horseshoe Bay has this afternoon been reopened to swimmers after being closed for a short time due to a high number of Portuguese Man O War and jelly fish.

A spokesman for the Department of Parks said that by noon today, 15 people had been treated for stings and lifeguards were trying to reduce further injury to beach patrons and as a result a decision was taken to close the bay for swimming.

However this afternoon the spokesman said the area had been reopened for swimming and that Portuguese Man O War signs and yellow flags advising beach users to be cautious while swimming had been erected.
