Randy Horton revealed today he was asked to resign as Education Minister and then fired by Premier Ewart Brown when he refused.

At a press conference surrounded by his family Mr. Horton expressed loyalty to the Premier who he said had every right to pick the Cabinet.

Earlier today Dr. Brown told the media that Mr. Horton was axed because of the slow pace of change under Mr. Horton. But Mr. Horton said he believed he had made significant progress in the last 18 months.

Former Environment Minister Elvin James has been appointed to replace Mr. Horton.
