Hurricane Danielle's closest point to the Island is now expected to be 6 p.m.The Bermuda Weather Service is predicting the storm will pass 272 miles northeast of the Island at that time.Danielle was downgraded to a Category Two storm earlier today, with maximum sustained winds of 95 knots gusting to 115 knots.Meanwhile, the Emergency Measures Organisation (EMO) has repeated its advice that the public stay out of the water until the storm has passed.Parks Department lifeguards are now monitoring surf conditions at Cooper’s Island Nature Reserve, Turtle Beach, Clearwater Beach, John Smith’s Bay and Horseshoe Bay.Said a spokesperson: "Higher than usual surf conditions are occurring along the South Shore beaches and as a result warning signs advising of dangerous wave conditions have been posted at the South Shore beaches."The EMO is reminding residents to avoid participating in activities such as boating and swimming until the weather system has passed, pointing out that over the next few hours, despite the sunny conditions, surf, swell and waves, may pose a hazard to beach goers and mariners."
