British Airways reschedules flights

The Saturday British Airways flight was completely cancelled but passengers who were due to catch the Sunday flight were rescheduled to fly out on Tuesday.

Flight times will also change due to the damage caused by hurricane Fabian to the Causeway.

The Causeway will close to all traffic except for emergency transport from 7 p.m. each evening until it has been repaired.

BA spokesman Philip Troake said that passengers who were booked on the cancelled Saturday flight needed to completely rebook their tickets and passengers who were due to catch the Sunday flight would fly out of Bermuda this evening.

"The flights will arrive from London at 3.45 p.m. and will leave Bermuda at the new time of 6 p.m.," said Mr. Troake.

"There will also be another flight on Wednesday, which has been set up to replace the scheduled Tuesday flight."

Mr. Troake also urged passengers to arrive no later than 4 p.m., as baggage might have to be checked manually.

Airport General Manager James Howes said the lighting system at the airport was completely restored and a Canadian team would be flying in this afternoon to repair the radio equipment that was damaged when the roof was ripped off during the storm.
