Businesses back new Govt. school scheme
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 1: Government has received $60,000 from businesses in support of its Adopt A School programme.
The scheme was designed to help maintain public primary schools on the Island.
Education Minister Dame Jennifer Smith announced today that Island Construction Company, Rock Media Ltd, Burt Construction Ltd and Oxford Communications have each donated $10,000.
Former Premier Ewart Brown, through his company Bermuda Healthcare Services, has donated a total of $20,000 in aid of Victor Scott Primary and Harrington Sound Primary.
The Ministry is also interested in donations from individuals, businesses or organisations willing to provide “in kind” assistance.
Dame Jennifer said :“This would include offers to paint and repair, offers of plumbing, electrical or carpentry services, and offers of landscaping services. Additionally individuals could band together to purchase paint and materials.”
