TAKE a behind-the-scenes look at rehearsals for this year's annual Christmas pantomime show that opened to great reviews last night.

This year's show, Snow White and the Seven Sisters in the Land of Snow and Ice, will run through December 13 at City Hall Theatre in Hamilton.

Written by Carol Birch, who has been involved with the Bermuda Musical and Dramatic Society for more than 30 years, this year's show melds two stories – The Ice Queen and Snow White. The music for the production was written and composed by a friend of Ms Burch's, James Burn, who has also written the music for the past two pantomimes.

Combining elements of big Broadway shows and traditional panto details, the production will include big "show-stopping numbers", "glorious" music and extravagant costuming by Nikola Wilkinson. According to Ms Birch, the show's content is sure to please both children and their parents.

"While there is lots of slapstick and big action for the kids, I specifically write for adults," she said. "There will be loads of double entendre and innuendo for the adults." Matinees will be held on Saturday and Sunday and also on December 13. There will not be an evening performance this Sunday. Curtain rises at 7.30 p.m. for evening performances and 3 p.m. for matinees.Tickets, priced at $30, can be purchased at Daylesford Theatre Box Office, located on Washington Street in Hamilton from 5.30 to 7 p.m., at City Hall Box Office one hour before the performances or online at www.boxoffice.bm.
