COLLEGE STATEMENT

LAST night a College spokeswoman said: “There are seven regular technical education programmes offered by the Division of Applied Science & Technology at Bermuda College. “All seven programmes have students enrolled in them and the numbers vary according to the trade — from four students in Electronics to nineteen students in Electrical Wiring. There are 72 students in total, 11 of whom are enrolled at the College full-time.

“The College has always maintained that two critical components to the success and the future of technical education in Bermuda is funding and industry support.

“The Division of Applied Science & Technology is committed to ensuring that its graduates are employable and productive at entry-level positions in their chosen careers. This is done through vital partnerships with the various Occupational Advisory Committees.

“The Division is proposing to conduct a six-week intensive Summer NCCER Core programme for anyone interested in studying Electronics, Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning, Motor Vehicle Technology, Plumbing, Wood Trades and Masonry for the start of the new academic year in the fall of 2007.”
