College to launch new programme
If you're a working adult who would like to further your education but feel overwhelmed by the prospect of juggling family, work and other commitments with college courses, then the Bermuda College has the answer.
The College for Working Adults (CWA) will be launched this autumn at the College and will provide both opportunities and options for the average working adult.
College spokeswoman Evelyn James Barnett said the programme provides learning in a cohort setting.
That means that students did not have to worry about their courses being oversubscribed or cancelled, or even if the course they were interested in was being offered at times when they were unable to attend.
"The learning cohort, which is being coordinated by Dr. Duranda Greene, will contain courses specific to the particular programme enrolled in, and courses will allow, for the first time, part-time students to complete their degree in two-and-a-half years ? as opposed to four or five years as was previously the case," she said.
She said students, for example, could elect to do their classes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings from 6 to 10 p.m., or even Tuesday and Thursday evenings with a Saturday or Sunday weekend class.
"Here is where the options comes in as working adults count their time at a premium and this will allow them to manage their time effectively and come out with a College degree," she said.
