CURE offers diversity training certification
In its efforts to develop a more racially sensitive community, The Commission for Unity and Racial Equality (CURE) will be offering certification in diversity training.
CURE will hold Mindful Facilitators? Diversity Training 2005 on 14, 15 and 16 March, at the Harmony Club on South Road, Paget.
The training is designed to build CURE?s bank of trainers and to offer a professional development opportunity. CURE announced that it is also teaming up with the Bermuda College to provide a Certification in Diversity Training opportunity at three levels ? beginner, intermediate and advanced.
Human resource professionals and community members who are interested in becoming expert presenters, team builders and group facilitators are invited to attend. People interested in becoming more adept at delivering an effective and interesting ?diversity dialogue? session, delving into cross-cultural communication skills, conflict management, team building and interpersonal issues are also invited to participate.
Training topics will include:
Observing what is said and what is not ? key facilitation skills.
Noticing the intent and impact within all our communications.
Replacing adversarial and defensive statements with mindful responses of observation and inquiry, and
Learning how to create community (facilitate) within a diverse group setting.
CURE is pleased that StirFry Seminar?s Diversity trainer and filmmaker, Lee Mun Wah (producer of films ?Colour of Fear?, and ?Last Chance for Eden?), who conducted diversity training sessions last year, will return to Bermuda to conduct the training along with Ms Rainbow Martell. The training sessions will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
Prices for the sessions are as follows: Corporate rates: $1,000; Government employees, $500; Education or non-profit, $300 and members of the community: $100.
CURE encourages and supports any interested member of the community to become involved, and advises that Bursary sports are available and may require a commitment to conduct future training for CURE.
