The Opposition?s official response to the Throne Speech today will include United Bermuda Party concerns about declining values.

Speaking ahead of the House of Assembly debate, UBP Leader Grant Gibbons refused to be drawn on the detail of his speech.

But he told : ?Our reply addresses the legacy of the Progressive Labour Party Government over the last seven years.

?It also talks about what a UBP Government?s plans would be and where we would stand on a number of issues raised in the Throne Speech.?

On the subject of values, he added: ?It will also address our real concerns on the deterioration in standards and values that we have witnessed in the last few years.?

Asked whether this would deal with standards in Government ? an issue recently raised by Premier Alex Scott ? Dr. Gibbons said it would cover a ?number of different areas?.

The UBP response is expected to include reaction to other key elements of the Throne Speech, including the PLP stance on Independence and its plans to increase housing, boost the economy and combat crime.

A reaction to Government?s controversial proposals for a state television channel is also likely to feature in the UBP reply.
