Driver hits Beacon House
A senior suspected of drink driving ploughed his car into the Bermuda Society for the Blind.
Police said a 75-year-old Devonshire man had left the Leopards Club when he lost control of his vehicle near the junction of Cedar Avenue and Angle Street, Hamilton.
He then crashed into Beacon House ? which promotes the welfare, education and employment of the sight-impaired or blind.
Both the building and car were damaged in the collision at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
The elderly man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, but refused to take an breath test at Hamilton Police Station.
He was later bailed.
There was another crash at 9.50 p.m. the same night involving two cars at the Middle Road and Rose Hill Road junction, Southampton.
One of the drivers, a 50-year-old Sandys man, was arrested and treated for minor injuries at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
He passed a breath test but was detained due to outstanding warrants.
The other motorist, a 30-year-old Smith?s man, and his two female passengers were also treated for minor injuries before being released.
? A Warwick home was broken into during the weekend.
The complainants, who are visiting the Island, told Police at the Keith Hall Road residenceon Saturday that someone entered their home and stole $70 worth of cash and personal items. Police are investigating the theft.
