Tank water
Dr. John Cann has offered the following advice for residents whose tank water has 'gone bad'. (1) Remove as much vegetation from the tank as possible - if there is an excessive amount empty the tank. (2) Aerate - adding oxygen to the water. This can be achieved by setting the nozzle of your garden hose just under the surface of the water in your tank. (3) Chlorinate if the water is clear and the tank relatively free of sludge. Check page 23 in the blue pages of the telephone directory for how much to use.
In the case of salty water Dr. Cann says the tank should be emptied, cleaned and refilled with fresh water. And bottled water should be consumed.
Ant infestations
Many residents have reported an increased volume of ants. Chief Medical Officer Dr. John Cann says this is normal and is weather related. He suggests that residents use their regular methods to tackle the problem and to pay particular attention to keeping areas clean.
