Fire Service recruiting 14 for `hot' jobs
The Bermuda Fire Service is looking for a new batch of firefighters keen to get into a "hot" new job.
"The Fire Service is looking for ten to 14 new firefighters to make up for people who have left or have been promoted as we require more firefighters on deck," said Sgt. Wenda Godfrey.
Requirements as listed in the advertisement for "the hot new career" are that candidates have a Bermuda Secondary School Certificate (BSSC) or a General Education Diploma (GED).
Physically, candidates must be no less than five-foot-five-inches without shoes on and must be in good physical fitness with the ability to pass the Fire Service's physical fitness and ability test.
The job advertisement states that applicants will make between $42,781 to $50,432 a year but will also become a member of a team that will be responsible for saving lives and protecting property.
