Government in push to get students in the workplace
Around 250 students will work for Government this summer earning up to $450 a week.
Government will also put private employers in touch with willing students, said Labour Minister Terry Lister.
He said around 50-70 students found work this way but he wanted to increase that figure.
The work helped students save for education, earn pocket money, help their family out and get clues on future career development said Mr. Lister.
Job placements for undergraduates began a month earlier this year to allow those returning from Canada to get work sooner.
Deidre Jones, 20, from the University of Western Ontario, is working at Tourism doing research and said the job was fun because she got away from the books and computers and interacted with people.
She said she was hoping to get something full-time with Tourism when she finished her political science and international relations degree in two years.
"I like getting a feel for the tourism industry and the marketing campaign."
Government also handles placements for senior school students starting July 7.
Students worked in architecture, accounting, clerical work, maintenance, research and computer technology said the Minister.
He said: "I urge employers to hire students this summer. There can be no better way for an employer to invest in the future of young Bermudians than to give them a chance to gain work experience."
