A Warwick woman had a nasty shock when she awoke to find a burglar in her bedroom going through her purse.

The burglar was discovered at about 3 a.m. yesterday at a home in Glenwood Park Lane but fled with $220 and ?300 when she screamed. He is dark-skinned, about five foot, five inches and he wore a white top, a black baseball cap and dark trousers.

Police are also investigating two burglaries from the weekend.

A burglar took $150 from Rock Island Coffee shop on Reid Street while $400, a Nokia cell phone and jewellery was taken from a Happy Valley Road, Devonshire home between 7.15 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Sunday morning.
