Lister reveals 'action plans' to boost education

The House of Assembly heard last week that seven action plans have been developed in a bid to improve public education.

Education Minister Terry Lister told the House that the plans were reviewed by the Bermuda Education Strategic Team, headed by project manager Rhonda Woods Smith in January and will be presented to the public shortly. The action team for the first strategy will communicate the strategic plan and market the Bermuda public school system, said Mr. Lister.

Among the plans are: staff development aimed at improving classroom instruction; student achievement aimed at identifying and stimulating students? talents,system unity aimed at increasing pride and cohesiveness in the public school system; strategic partnering to ?leverage resources human and financial? to produce students who can compete and meet success in both school and in the community; and standard-based accountability for all.
