Police investigating a rape in Pembroke in the early hours of Sunday were yesterday questioning a man in custody.understands the victim was forced to withdraw cash from an ATM at one point during her ordeal.

Releasing brief details about the incident for the first time yesterday, a Police spokesman said officers are interested in speaking with the driver of a car who may be able to assist with inquiries.

The vehicle stopped to let a silver-grey Kia car out of the Bank of Butterfield ATM area on Richmond Road, Hamilton, between 6 a.m. and 6.15 a.m. on Sunday.

The spokesman refused to disclose the age of the victim or the suspect, and which parish the suspect ? who was arrested on Wednesday ? is from.
