Maycock successful in Peru

ONE of Bermuda's most successful junior squash players, Robert Maycock, has just competed in the Peru Men's Open and Men's Under 23 squash championships held at Club Regatas in Lima, Peru. Competing as a member of his school team, Wycliffe College, one of the strongest teams in the UK. Maycock finished fourth in both the Men's Open and in the Men's Under 23 against strong players from throughout South America.

While in Peru, Maycock was able to visit Machu Pichu near the Inca city of Cusco.

Maycock said: "This was a great trip and I felt I did well under the circumstances. We had a lot of matches played back to back, so it was a tough tournament. While in Peru we flew to Machu Pichu which is, by far, the most beautiful place I've ever seen."

In his last year as a junior, Maycock will be competing for a place on the Bermuda Boys Under 19 team in the Bermuda CASA 2008 Squash Championships being held in July. He has previously held the Boys Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17 Junior CASA titles, and will likely be one of the top seeds in Under 19 in July.
