Motivational speaker to address Island students

A motivational speaker will be travelling to the Island to encourage Bermuda?s youth to become the best they can be.

Dr. Earle Suttle will focus on empowering the Island?s middle and senior school students through education and enthusiasm during his ?Becoming the Greatest You? address.

The speech will also be given to young inmates at the Co-Ed facility.

Dr. Suttle will visit Government middle and senior schools, as well as the Co-Ed Facility, on November 15 and 16.

Minister of Health and Family Services Patrice Minors said that Dr. Suttle?s highly interactive and entertaining presentation will provide practical strategies to help the Island?s youth incorporate a positive self-concept with seven keys for success.

?The overall aim is to help Bermuda?s youth take charge of their current status and to outline plans to achieve their goals for the future,? said Mrs. Minors.

Dr. Suttle?s address was to be a part of a Multi-Addictions Conference that was originally planned for this November.

However, Ms Minors has decided to postpone the conference until next year so that its content can be more compatible with other social initiatives planned by the Ministry.

The aim of the conference is to promote a better understanding of the impact of addictions on individuals, families and the community through networking, skills-building and strategies for the future.

The conference will also embrace both the public and private sector as it touches on areas such as sex addiction, financial disorders, substance abuse, food addictions, family dynamics, treatment methods and spirituality.

Another conference in the works is ?Treating People of Colour? which is to run from December 1-5.
