Murder squad detectives: Have you seen this man?

Kenith Clifton (Ethon) Bulford

Detectives hunting a key suspect in the shooting murder of young Shaundae Jones have appealed to the public for information.

Kenith Clifton Bulford, also known as Ethon, has not been seen for a number of weeks and has repeatedly failed to answer Police bail.

Armed officers have conducted searches of the Island for him, but have so far turned up nothing, and now Police have released the identity of the man they are looking for, and The Royal Gazette knows him to be a murder suspect in the Dockyard killing.

Police spokesman Dwayne Caines would only say yesterday that a warrant had been issued for Bulford's arrest for an "indictable offence."

Bulford, 28, is said to be about six feet four inches tall, brown skinned and of medium build. He weighs between 180 and 200 pounds and has dark hair.

He is known to frequent the Somerset and St. David's area, and so Mr. Caines said he was particularly eager for people in those areas to keep a look out for him.

He said: "The Bermuda Police Service is interested in the whereabouts of Mr. Kenith Bulford as he is wanted in connection with an indictable offence.

"We are asking for anyone who may know the whereabouts of this man to please contact their nearest Police station or CrimeStoppers, especially those people in the Western parishes and also those in St. David's."

College student Mr. Jones, 20, of Smith's Avenue, Warwick, was shot at point blank range in the early hours of Sunday, April 27 outside Club Malabar in Dockyard.

It is believed he was standing outside a friend's car, which was parked directly opposite the club, at about 3 a.m. when the masked gunman approached him and shot him once in the chest.

Detectives said they believed Mr. Jones stumbled backwards into the car in the confusion as the majority of the 100 or so people milling around outside the club believed the loud bang had been a tyre or a bike backfiring.

It was only when a girl near the car noticed Mr. Jones lying on the back seat shaking uncontrollably that the alarm was raised.

The driver of the car immediately drove from Dockyard to Southampton Fire Station, where they were met by an ambulance, but Mr. Jones died before reaching King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

The gunman, who is said to have been wearing a red top or shirt, a mask and a bike helmet, is believed to have made off through the back road that runs behind the Clock Tower shopping mall and towards the old Casemates prison.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Mr. Bulford should call Police on 295-0011, the Serious Crime Unit on 299-4315, or CrimeStoppers on 1-800-623-8477.
