New garden for Lefroy House
Residents at Lefroy House got a breath of fresh air at the unveiling of a new garden yesterday.
Minister of Health and Family Services Nelson Bascome was on hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The new garden includes multiple seating areas, small herb garden and a handicap swing.
"There is still work to be done at Lefroy House, but the garden helps to enhance the facilities," Mr. Bascome said.
Lefroy House administrator Rosheena Masters said that the residents would be able to enjoy their time outside and will be able to benefit from the changing seasons. "The garden was built to allow seniors to get outside and have more independence," Ms Masters said.
Ms Masters and the staff at Lefroy House were credited for their work with residents when Dr. John Cann spoke about the facilities.
"We want to provide a home-like, residential facility with services that match the care that is provided."
Activities coordinator Karen Fox dedicated a plaque honouring the garden.
