New school on schedule

The Minister of Works and Engineering told the House of Assembly on Friday that the new Senior Secondary School will be handed over to the Minister of Education by September.

Ashfield De Vent was responding to a question from Shadow Minister of Works and Engineering, Patricia Gordon-Pamplin as to when the school would be completed.

Mr. De Vent told the House that progress is continuing at the site.

?Groups of teachers and parents have visited the site and by the end of May the Minister of Education, Terry Lister, and myself will be able to release a full statement to say ?exactly where it is?, he said.

He added that the school was on schedule for September and that at any given time approximately 270 men were on site.

?To the lay eye, many times people will go and look at a work site and say ?this will never be finished on time?, but that?s the untrained eye because once you reach a certain point and it?s clean up and its all downhill and things will happen,? he said.

He assured the House that the school was still on schedule to open in September.
