No request to help Grenada children
Bermuda has not been asked to house and educate Grenadian children yet, according to Premier Alex Scott.
It is understood that Caricom is helping to disperse Grenada's schoolchildren to different Caribbean islands to continue their studies, after Hurricane Ivan destroyed most of their schools last month.
Major Lindsay Rowe, divisional commander for the Salvation Army, told The Royal Gazette last week that Caricom was responsible for dispersing A Level or high school students throughout the Caribbean to continue their education. He added that Caricom will find them homes while they study in foreign countries.
Mr. Scott that, if asked to do so, he would take the matter to Cabinet.
However, he was not sure if Bermuda was the most suitable place for Grenada's school children because it is not a neighbouring Island and the children would have to travel far away from their parents.
