?Ordinary woman?, extraordinary kindness
Murdered missionary Colin Lee?s stepmother Sarah was revealed this week as a big-hearted charity donor who personally sponsors needy children and families around the world.
Mrs. Lee, 83, from Devonshire, was invited to stand up at a Women of Vision meeting to tell members how she keeps in touch with all those who benefit from her kindness.
She said she helped 20 children, three couples and a grandmother through the Christian charity World Vision.
?I love to hear from them,? she told those gathered at First Baptist Church on Middle Road.
?It?s just a joy to me. I don?t know how come I was so long finding out about World Vision but each month I try to support them.?
Women of Vision is a volunteer branch of World Vision and the meeting on Monday evening was held by its Bermuda Chapter. Susan Simmons, the group?s child sponsorship advocate, said it cost $30 a month to sponsor a child through World Vision.
?Mrs. Lee is a very ordinary Bermudian,? she said. ?She?s not a wealthy woman. Her dream is to take a worldwide trip to every country to visit all the people she has been supporting.?
Mr. Lee?s widow Hedwig Lee spoke at Monday?s meeting about the need for missionary work around the world.
The meeting was also attended by Mr. Lee?s brother Keith and his sister Gaylhia Le May.
