Parents to hear about new education strategy

The Ministry of Education and Development has extended an invitation to parents to attend a series of meetings next week to unveil its strategic plan for the public education system.

It is unknown what the content of this plan is. Earlier this week The Royal Gazette learned that many teachers were not present when the plan was discussed as they were instructed by the Bermuda Union of Teachers (BUT) not to attend, as wage negotiations were still underway.

On Monday, September 16, meetings will be held at the Clearwater Middle School, Whitney Institute Middle School and Spice Valley Middle School.

On September 17, the plan will be unveiled at the Berkeley Institute Senior School for parents of students attending the Dellwood Middle School and at the Sandys Secondary Middle School. There will also be a meeting held at CedarBridge Academy for parents whose children attend both CedarBridge and Berkeley Institute.

Parents of children who attend both Government preschools and primary schools are also urged to attend.

All meetings are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on both nights.
