Police car damaged after hitting trees
A Police car was extensively damaged after it ploughed into roadside palm trees on Harrington Sound Road, Hamilton Parish, yesterday evening while responding to a report of an alarm activating.
The accident happened next to the Harrington Sound Post Office and it is thought the driver of the patrol car, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, lost control on the bend resulting in the car leaving the road and colliding with some trees.
The Police officer was able to walk away uninjured from the wreckage. No other vehicles were involved in the incident at 7.45 p.m.
Bermuda Police Service spokesman Robin Simmons said: ?The Police car was responding to a call and lost control and struck some palm trees. It was extensively damaged. The single Police officer in the car was not injured and the road was not closed as a result of the incident.?
Traffic heading west was diverted via Paynter?s Road but vehicles going east were unaffected by the accident.
There is expected to be an investigation to see why the patrol car had left the road. On Friday, another patrol car was damaged after being involved in a head-on collision during a high speed chase.
