Premier to take Number 8 bus to work today
Premier Alex Scott is due to catch a bus to work this morning to draw the public's attention to the need to find sustainable alternatives in everyday life.
Mr. Scott had chosen today to opt for public transport to get from Paget to Hamilton, rather than use his chauffeur-driven car, as it coincides with the launch of the second round of public consultation on the draft Sustainable Development Strategy and Implementation Plan.
He intends to board the Number 8 bus in a gesture he hopes will encourage other residents to find alternative ways of getting to work, at least one day a month, rather than using their car or bike.
The Premier will hold an official launch of the draft sustainability plan later in the morning.
Abridged copies of the plan are being mailed to households across the Island and the public is invited to add their input to the plan so that any changes can be made before it is officially adopted as the way forward for the Island.
