Public invited to join in a host of events
DOLPHIN Quest is celebrating its tenth year in Bermuda tomorrow, opening its Dockyard facility to the public and donating all proceeds to a local charity.Admission is free and a host of events have been planned as part of the celebrations, including dolphin training demonstrations, education programmes, games, craft tables and more.
"We will have a programme set up for when people arrive so that they know when things are happening," said Roma Hayward, Dolphin Quest's marine animals manager.
"We have a few demonstrations. We have turtles here now from the Aquarium, we're partnering with the (Bermuda Aquarium, Museum & Zoo) on their feasibility study.
"And, basically, we've got two turtles here to see how well they'd do in a natural environment before they're considered for release. And so we've got a couple of turtle talks on Saturday.
"We've got a husbandry demonstration talking about (the ways in which we care for the dolphins) as well as how the animals communicate with each other.
"We have a training demonstration planned and we have a couple of shows to kind of show off what the dolphins can do. So it's a fun-filled day with just about everything covered I think."
Events run from 10 a.m. through 5 p.m. at Dolphin Quest, located at the Bermuda Maritime Museum in Dockyard.
Proceeds will benefit Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Bermuda. For more information visit www.dolphinquest.org or telephone 234-4464.
