Saltus Grammar posts glowing GCSE results

Sixty four seniors at Saltus Grammar School showed their mettle in this year?s GCSE examinations producing the private school?s best class results sine 1998.

Spokesperson for the Pembroke school Cynthia Barnes described the results as ?strong? this year, adding there was a 100 percent pass standard in subjects as diverse as Physics, Music, Physical Education, Chemistry and Drama.

The pass rate for History was 91percent, for English Language 92 percent and for English Literature 84 percent. Students achieved an average of 7 GCSE passes (A* ? C) each. Seventy-eight percent of the grades recorded fell within the A* ? C range.

Ten students received special commendation, Ms Barnes said, for achieving a total of ten grades (A* ? C): Paul Bechter, Connor Burns, Matthew Godfrey, Paget Holland, Marquis Jones, Andrew Masters, Andrew Osborne, Christopher Parker, Damian Pitcher and Laura Robinson.

Jonathan McBeath achieved particular distinction with an impressive score of ten passing grades ? nine at A* (superior A) and one A grade.

Students achieving nine grades (A* ? C) were: Mark Barany, Andrew Botelho, Jasmin Caines, Anna Clark, Clare Critchley, Michael DeSilva;

Krista Dyer, Joella Foster, Meliseanna Gibbons, Ashley Gillis, Abigail Hill, Melissa Holland, Ryan North, Teron Ratteray, Emily Sheere, Amy Smith and Nathan Terra.

The following achieved eight grades (A* ? C): Jessica Bowers, Joshua Correia, Brooke Dolan, Brett Fox, Christopher Mahoney, Rhys Newman, Bryce Pantry, Sean Penchoff, Michelle Pimentel and Donita Stevens.

Students in Senior 4 were entered for English Language and Mathematics. Their performance was equally pleasing with a 97 percent pass rate in English and an 81 percent pass standard in Mathematics.
