Saltus student in overseas traffic accident on the mend

A schoolboy is recovering in hospital in Spain after being injured in a traffic accident while on an educational trip.

The youngster was hurt this week while on an 11-day visit to Malaga with Saltus Grammar School. Nigel Kermode, principal of the private school, told that the boy?s mother was at his side and that his condition was getting better.

He said: ?Saltus has a school trip in Spain at the moment. One of the year eight students has been involved in a traffic accident.

?I understand that his condition is stable and he is improving. All the signs appear to be good. His mother is with him.?

Mr. Kermode said he could not talk about the incident in detail and would not reveal where it occurred or whether the child ? who is aged 11 or 12 but has not been identified ? was in a vehicle or on foot. He said school staff were ?very, very competently? managing the rest of the trip and would return to the Island with students at the weekend.
