Sol misses out on Regional

THE major Bermuda bridge event of the year, the Regional, commences tomorrow night at the Fairmont Southampton Princess Hotel with an expected field of some 400 players, the majority coming from the United States and Canada. The event comprises five championship events, three of which are Teams and two Pairs. These are played each evening with the Knockout Teams being held during the day. In addition there are minor events in the mornings and afternoons, entertainment, panel shows and a final banquet and prizegiving next Saturday.

All this is again in the hugely capable hands of tournament chairman Lynanne Bolton, who has it all working like a well-oiled machine after three years in the hot seat.

Chief tournament director will be Chris Patrias and his expert team, including our own Jack Rhind. The daily bulletin, a crucial part of the event, will be edited by Allan and Jacqui Falk who have an excellent reputation. See you there!

Sol Weinstein should again have been chief tournament director but he could not travel as his wife Ann has broken her ankle in a fall.
