Teen denies unlawful carnal knowledge
An 18-year-old Sandys man was released on $5,000 bail after he denied having unlawful carnal knowledge with a 12-year-old girl.
The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, allegedly sexually interfered with the girl in Pembroke on June 6.
He was represented by former Magistrate Edward King, who is now a defence attorney.
Mr. King?s client looked confused as he entered Magistrates? Court yesterday and sat down when Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner was addressing him. Mr. King then gripped him by the arm and pulled him to his feet.
The man will return to court for trial on December 19.
A Devonshire man pleaded not guilty to unlawful wounding and possession of an offensive weapon in Magistrates? Court after he allegedly attacked a man with a golf club on June 23.
Ezra Ezzard Williams, 20, of Cedar Park, was released on $2,000 bail and will return to court in December for trial.
Several beers land driver in trouble
A 42-year-old Warwick man was caught by the Police at nearly twice the drink-driving limit after consuming what he described as ?several beers?.
Romeo Arcill, of Spice Hill Road, Warwick, was stopped by Police on Middle Road in that parish at 2.45 a.m. yesterday after they saw him crossing the central yellow line.
Prosecutor Paula Tyndale told Magistrates? Court yesterday that Arcill?s eyes were bloodshot, he was unsteady on his feet and his breath smelt of liquor.
He failed the alco-analyser test, with a reading of 175 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood, when the legal limit is 80.
He pleaded guilty to impaired driving, and Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner fined him $1,000 and disqualified him from driving for 12 months.
A woman who denies unlawful wounding will stand trial at Magistrates? Court on December 21.
Rieo Paynter appeared before Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner yesterday to enter a not guilty plea. The offence was allegedly committed against Tenea Hendrickson on May 2 this year in Pembroke.
Mr. Warner granted Paynter, of Cove Valley Road, St George?s, $2,000 bail ahead of the trial.
A man facing two house breaking charges has pleaded not guilty, and will stand trial on December 22.
Clarence Simmons, 38, is accused of entering the Pembroke home of Coral Wilson on May 17, and stealing $200 and a $100 watch.
He is also alleged to have stolen $956 from the Pembroke home of Theresa Feriera on August 24.
Simmons, of Friswells Hill, Pembroke, was granted $2,000 bail by Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner ahead of his trial.
