THE top Bermuda sailors of 2006 will be named on Tuesday evening when the Omega awards ceremony takes place at Bacardi International. The top sailors in the Youth, Male and Female categories will be honoured and presented with Omega time pieces.On hand to present the awards and their watches will be Gregory Swift, the President of Omega North America.

The short list for the Youth Sailor of the Year are Joshua Greenslade, William Hutchings and Haley Powell. Nominees for the Female Sailor of the Year are Maria Stephani and Katrina Williams while the nominees for the Male Sailor of the Year are Malcolm Smith and Blythe Walker.

Members of the Bermuda Sailing Association were asked to nominate sailors with outstanding performances for 2006. The BSA then narrowed the field to two or three in each category. The association’s Board of Governors will then vote by secret ballot to determine the winners.
