Trial date set for man accused of attacking referee
A Pembroke man will face trial this month for an attack on a linesmen at a football match at Somerset Cricket Club last week.
Nakia Burchall, 29, of King Street, pleaded not guilty to unlawfully assaulting assistant referee Antoine Augustus last Wednesday.
He also denied threatening behaviour and breaching his probation.
Prosecutor Shakira Dill said Burchall was under a curfew which forbade him from being out between 9 p.m. and 6.30 a.m. and from attending football matches during the six months of his probation.
He will appear for trial on December 20.
Dill was also charged with unlawfully causing grievous bodily harm to a man in a nightclub in Pembroke on October 30 and for again breaching his curfew.
He was not required to enter a plea after electing to be tried in Supreme Court. Burchall was remanded in custody and the case will be mentioned on December 20.
