Trust appoints new chief
Steve Conway is the new Executive Director of the Bermuda National Trust.
Making the announcement yesterday Trust President Wayne Jackson said: "Mr. Conway has been with the Trust since 1994 as Properties Manager, giving him an intimate understanding of how the Trust operates.
"This combined with his administrative experience and knowledge of historic building preservation made him the best candidate for the role of Executive Director."
Mr. Conway said: "The role of the Trust is incredibly diverse - essentially we are charged with preserving our natural and built heritage.
"To this end it is essential that we continue to raise awareness in the community about what we do here. How do we do this? Primarily it's through education.
"I would like to build on the success of our education programmes by developing resources for teachers to teach our young people about Bermuda's rich history and unique environment; and continue to work with other organisations and Government to address and inform the public about environment issues."
He said he had learned much from previous incumbent Amanda Outerbridge who resigned in June to take a media job at insurance giant XL Capital.
Mr. Conway is married with two sons and has lived in Bermuda for 23 years.
He is a Chartered Surveyor, and worked for the Bermuda Housing Corporation until 1992 and was employed by the private firm of Ted Gauntlett, Chartered Surveyor, until 1994.
