Two injured in city crash

A motorcyclist and a pedestrian were injured when a bike was in collision with a car in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The crash took place at 2.45 a.m. at the junction of Church Street and Parliament Street in Hamilton. The motorcyclist, a 28-year-old Pembroke man, suffered a serious leg injury and cuts to his chest. He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where his condition was last night described as "stable".

The car driver, a 34-year-old Sandys man, was uninjured but debris from the accident injured a bystander.

A Police spokesman said: "It appears that the car was travelling east on Church Street and the motorcycle was travelling north on Parliament Street when the vehicles collided at the junction.

"A pedestrian standing in front of Greg's Steakhouse was hit by debris from the collision and sustained an injury to his ribs and abrasions to both elbows."

The 20-year-old man, from Pembroke, was admitted to KEMH but later discharged. Police have impounded both vehicles.
