Webster earns top ranking

Webster University has topped a survey for awarding the most graduate degrees to African-Americans and the Bermuda centre hopes to get the word out about its local campus.

"So few business people know that we even exist or that we have classes here," said Derek Snee, director of Webster's Bermuda campus.

"We make it possible for career-minded individuals to obtain graduate degrees without leaving the Island and while holding down their day job."

The survey, conducted in the July publication of `Black Issues in Higher Education', ranked Webster University number one among all graduate disciplines combined for granting the most degrees to African-Americans, a press release said.

"Our flexible schedules include courses that meet two evenings per week from 6 to 10 p.m., application-based programmes, conveniently located campuses and strong online presence, which are the reasons we continue to top this survey every year," said Mr. Snee.

Bermuda's campus is located in Hamilton and has 42 students enrolled. Currently, students can obtain a Master of Arts in Business Administration and a Master of Arts in Human Resource Management.

World-wide, the university, which was founded in 1915, boasts 20,000 enrolled students and has centres located throughout the United States, Austria, China, England, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Thailand with its headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri.
