The man who heads the World Trade University and the World Trade Forum will be guest speaker at a celebration of 25 years of Bermuda?s Human Rights Commission and the UN International Human Rights Day.

Members of the public are invited to attend a cocktail reception and keynote address by Dr. Sujit Chowdhury this coming Friday to hear from the Secretary General of the World Trade Forum.

The audience will get to hear from the man who brought some of the leading Chinese insurance regulators to Bermuda two years ago and helped boost the Island?s international business sector as a result.

The World Trade Forum was set up to enhance the development of executives working in emerging markets. As a political refugee who escaped persecution by fleeing from his home in Bangladesh, Dr. Chowdhury has a special interest in working with young entrepreneurs and people from marginalised communities to help them harness their expertise and prepare countries for the rule-based trade and commerce of the world.

He will be at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute for the ?Human Rights in the Century of Global Leadership? event hosted by the HRC and Amnesty International.

The impact of Dr. Chowdhury, when he brought the Chinese Insurance Regulatory Commission to Bermuda for the first time in 2004, can be measured by the subsequent authorisation for Bermuda-based ACE Insurance to acquire one of China?s largest insurance companies.

While on the Island he is interested in meeting and talking with ?organisations working on entrepreneurialism, small business and representatives of organisations interested in hearing and discussing globalisation and developing emerging economies?.

Space at the event on Friday, between 5.30 p.m. to 8.00 p.m., is limited and anyone wishing to attend should confirm a place by calling 295-5859 or email to hrcbdalogic.bm
