21 burglaries in eight days

There were 21 reported burglaries and three attempted burglaries from March 31 to April 7, Police said yesterday.

In the western parishes, there were four burglaries in Sandys, two in Southampton and one in Warwick.

Seven burglaries were reported in the central parishes with four in Paget, one in Pembroke and two in Devonshire.

In the east, Smith's had one burglary, Hamilton Parish and St. George's with three a piece.

Cash, jewellery and electronic items including laptop computers, cell phones, iPods and digital cameras are the most common targeted items.

The most common methods of entry were an insecure window or door and a forced or pried window or door.

The most targeted areas were in the Highwood Lane, Paget and Blue Hole Hill, Lemon Grove Road, Hamilton Parish.

Police are reminding the public to secure their homes when leaving and to be vigilant for suspicious activity or persons in their neighbourhood.
