Advance polling dates announced
Voters who will be away on December 18 will be able to cast their ballot a week before — as will infirm and physically disabled members of the public.
The Parliamentary Registry Office (PRO) said yesterday that advanced polling would take place on Tuesday, December 11 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church on King Street between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Parliamentary Registrar Randy Scott said anyone falling into the two categories needed to contact his office to make special arrangements.
"Those who are travelling must apply for a certificate of absence and provide confirmation of their travel," he said. "Incapacitated voters must obtain a medical certificate from the Chief Medical Officer."
Certificates of absence can be obtained from the PRO from December 5 to 11. Medical certificates can be obtained from the Chief Medical Officer at the Victoria Street Hamilton Health Centre on December 5, 6, 7 and 10 between 9 a.m. and noon.
Polling at health care institutions — including hospitals, rest homes and other care facilities — takes place on Wednesday, December 12. Mr. Scott is asking all institutions with five beds or more to contact his office.
The number for the PRO is 297-7738 or 293-VOTE. Visit www.elections.gov.bm for more information.
