Seaman suffers heart trouble
A ship heading to the Suez Canal from the States had to make a detour to Bermuda last night after one of its officers suffered a suspected heart attack.
The Island's pilot boat St. George went to meet the 28,000 gross ton carrier Liberty Eagle about four miles off St. David's to enable the 61-year-old man to be brought ashore and taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The 190 metre-long American boat, which was carrying grain from Houston, Texas to Port Said, Egypt, called for assistance at about 8.45 a.m. yesterday when it was 150 miles away from Bermuda.
